Family Night at Camp: Sunday, July 7, 2013

Parent’s Day

It is the tradition of our camp that Sunday is the day when parents, grandparents, aunts, and uncles come to visit children. Each year we want to prepare something for them, but most of all we want to share with them why we are doing these camps and what is important for us!

We start the evening with a program prepared by the teachers, leaders and children. This year they performed many songs in English. Next it is time for a competition between the parents and children. This competition includes games from the week. There is always a prize prepared for the parents, which gives us an opportunity to share the Good News with both parents and children. This year when presenting the prizes we talked about the story of Peter Pan who lives in Neverland! It is a beautiful place to live but it is not real!!! Using that example we said that we would like parents and children to have a real Life with God and experience real Love, Forgiveness, Grace, Mercy and Salvation.

The last part of our day with parents is a barbecue and time for conversation. Because more than 50% of campers are new at our camp this year, for parents it was also something very new. Some of them asked us many questions; and some said that they are very happy that we have found a very nice way to introduce God to the children. Every day at camp we end with worship and parents noticed that as a very important and great way to have children praying each day. Another family shared with us that they came to take their daughter home. She was homesick and they thought that would be the best way to help her. After a conversation with them, they decided not to take their daughter Diana home with them. They said that they are very thankful because they have sent their daughter for a camp but received also something very important as the parents.

God gave us great afternoon and now our prayer is that He will continue the growth of the seed what HE has allowed us to put in hearts of children and parents.

  1. Family Night! So much fun with the campers and their parents. The last two years it was one of the many highlights of meeting the parents and trying to converse with them. One thing for sure, you can feel the warmth and appreciation they have for the experience for their children. Piotr has always made this a special experience for everyone, Americans and Polish alike.

I love the video of "HOME". I recognized many faces. It looks like everyone worked hard and had a good time doing it.

Have a great rest of the week. I am sure lots of great memories have been made!
